Nadolol

Pronounced: nay-doe-lole
Other Name(s): Corgard

Nadolol is used in the treatment of angina pectoris (chest pain, usually caused by lack of oxygen to the heart due to clogged arteries) and to reduce high blood pressure. 

When prescribed for high blood pressure, it is effective when used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications. Nadolol is a type of drug known as a beta-blocker. It decreases the force and rate of heart contractions, reducing the heart's demand for oxygen and lowering blood pressure.
 
ADULTS
Dosage is tailored to each individual's needs. 

Angina Pectoris
The usual starting dose is 40 milligrams once daily. The usual long-term dose is 40 or 80 milligrams, once a day. Doses up to 160 or 240 milligrams, once a day, may be needed. 

High Blood Pressure
The usual starting dose is 40 milligrams once daily. 

The usual long-term dose is 40 or 80 milligrams, once a day. Doses up to 240 or 320 milligrams, once a day, may be needed.

*Do not stop taking Nadolol without talking to your doctor first. If Nadolol is stopped suddenly, it may cause chest pain or heart attack in some people.

CHILDREN
The safety and effectiveness of Nadolol have not been established in children.
