at the Capital in Washington. They discussed his and other legislators' initiatives to keep Canadian prescription drugs available to consumers in need. Sanders is one of 49 congressmen sponsoring a House Bill (HR847) called "Preserving Access to Safe, Affordable Canadian Medicines Act of 2003,” which would levy up to a $1 million penalty against drug companies if they discriminate against consumers who are accessing low-cost medications from Canada. The bill is a response to drug giant GlaxoSmithKline, which in January stopped supplying its drugs to Canadian pharmacies and wholesalers who provide medications to s in need.

Speaking to 40 protesters outside drug giant GlaxoSmithKline's headquarters in Philadelphia, Canadameds.com pharmacist Andrew Yan informs them about the grave harm that Glaxo's ban against its Canadian drugs for consumers

can have on their health and finances. Yan said that more than 1 in 5 adults does not take their medications as prescribed because of the cost, so Canada's low drug prices can make the difference between whether they can afford them or not.
