Drug InformationThis medicine is used to lower blood pressure. This medicine may be used for other purposes as well, for example in diabetics. This medicine is a member of a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
Mechanism:
By preventing a chemical reaction that creates a narrowing of blood vessels, the arteries relax which results in lower blood pressure. This medicine also causes the body to retain less salt and fluids.

Side EffectsTell your doctor if the following side effect bother you or do not go away: cough, dizzness, diarrhea, lightheadedness, headache, fatigue, abdominal discomfort
Precautions:
There is a possibility of sun sensitivity from this medication, so you may need to wear protective clothing or use sunscreens until you are sure.
Preganant:
This medicine should NOT be taken if you are pregnant. If you think you may be pregnant, talk to your doctor right away. This medicine can harm the fetus. It is not yet known whether this medicine is excreted in breast milk, so you should check with your doctor about possible risks to your baby before you begin breast-feeding.

Dosage InformationFollow the directions that your doctor has given you. Food does not interfere with this drug, so it can be taken either before or after a meal, usually in a single oral daily dose.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication tightly closed in the original container it came in. Store this medicine at room temperature and keep away from excess heat and moisture. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
