Drug InformationAcetaminophen is used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. It does not help with the stiffness or swelling of arthritis. This medicine may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Side EffectsIf used correctly, side effects with this medicine are rare, however side effects can occur. Tell your doctor if this symptom is severe or does not go away: upset stomach
Precautions:
Do NOT take more of this medicine than recommended. 4 grams per day is the total amount of acetaminophen that should be taken per day. Patients that regularly drink alcohol should take less (2g/day).
Preganant:
This medicine is used during pregnancy and appears safe for short-term use at therapeutic doses. For nursing mothers, this medicine is excreted in breast milk in small amounts. No adverse effects have been reported.

Dosage InformationFor proper use of this medicine, follow the directions on the package, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. This medicine is taken orally every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain and/or fever. Acetaminophen can be taken with or without food. Do not take more of this medicine than prescribed or suggested on the package.
Missed Dosage:
If your doctor has instructed you to take this medicine regularly and you miss a dose, take your next dose, as soon as you remember. If you are close to your next dose, do not double up. Skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
