Drug Information

This medicine is used for treatment of chronic viral infections of the liver (hepatitis B). This medicine is not a cure for hepatitis B.
Mechanism:
This medicine blocks an enzyme that helps slow the growth of the hepatitis B virus.

Side Effects

Side effects that may occur while taking this medicine include: stomach upset, headache, fever, muscle pain
Precautions:
This is NOT a cure for hepatitis B, nor will it prevent you from spreading hepatitis B.
Preganant:
There are no adequate and/or well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Use when benefits clearly outweigh the risks to the pregnancy. DO NOT breast feed while taking this medicine.

Dosage Information

Follow the instructions that your doctor has given you. This medicine is taken by mouth and may be taken with or without food. Take the full course of this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Do not discontinue (even if you are feeling better).
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
