Drug InformationUsed to treat post-herpetic neuralgia (nerve pain) after a bout of shingles (herpes zoster). Also used to treat photosensitivity caused by a condition called porphyrea cutanea tarda.

Side EffectsThe oral dosage form has exhibited no side effects in the limited studies thus far. The intramuscular form has been shown to cause life-threatening arrhythmias of the heart if injected too rapidly.
Precautions:
AMP is found as a supplement, though not widely available. The injectable gel form will likely require consultation with a doctor of natural medicine.
