Drug InformationThis medicine is used to treat HIV-1 infection in combination with other anti-HIV medicines.
Mechanism:
This medicine blocks a protease enzyme that the HIV virus needs to produce, resulting in noninfectious viral particles.

Side EffectsSide effects may include: skin rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tingling sensation around the mouth
Precautions:
Increased blood sugar (hyperglycemia) or diabetes may develop while taking Agenerase. If you take diabetes medication, your dose may need to be adjusted.
Preganant:
Tell your health care provider if you are trying to become pregnant , are already pregnant, or are breast-feeding. You should NOT become pregnant or breast-feed while taking this medicine. If you are using birth control pills, you should use another form of birth control (e.g. condom, diaphragm) while taking this medicine.

Dosage InformationThis medicine comes in a capsule or solution. Take this medicine exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT take this medicine with antacids or high-fat meals.Do not switch from the capsule to the solution without advice from your doctor. Amprenavir capsules and oral solution are not the same on a milligram per milligram basis. follow your health care provider instructions on how to take this medicine.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
DO NOT refrigerate this medicine in capsules or solution form. Store this medicine at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
