Drug InformationTreatment of high blood pressure, this medicine is also used for treatment of heart failure in some patients, and to help the kidneys in diabetic patients. This medicine may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Mechanism:
This medicine works by blocking a chemical that causes blood vessels to constrict. This reduces blood pressure.

Preganant:
Captopril should not be used during pregnancy due to the possibility of fetal damage. This medicine is not believed to be excreted in breast milk in sufficient quantities. Talk to your doctor if you plan to breast feed while taking this medicine.

Dosage InformationThis medicine should be taken orally on an empty stomach, one hour before meals. Take the medicine about the same time everyday
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
