Drug InformationBranched-chain amino acids have been used for: chronic renal failure, hepatic encepalopathy and to increase athletics performance in extreme temperatures and high altitudes. BCAA may be associated with other conditions as well.
Mechanism:
The branched chain amino acids are needed for the maintenance of muscle tissue and appear to preserve muscle glycogen and prevent the breakdown of muscle protein during exercise.

Side EffectsBranched chain amino acids can cause an increase of plasma ammonia levels, leading to fatigue and loss of motor coordination.
