Drug Information

This medicine is used as a type of chemotherapy that is part of the chemotherapy given before a bone marrow transplant. This medicine may be used with other chemotherapy agents.

Side Effects

The most common side effects with this medicine are: changes in the color of your nails and or skin, missed or irregular menstrual periods, stomach pains or cramps, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, headache, difficulty sleeping, weakness,
Precautions:
Before taking this medicine, talk to health care provider if you have any of the following conditions: dental disease, liver disease, previous radiation therapy, blood disorders, bleeding problems, previous cancer chemotherapy , gout, infection (especially if you have a virus infection like herpes or chickenpox), seizures, an allergic or unusual reaction to this medicine or other chemotherapy medicines
Preganant:
Before taking this medicine , talk to your health care provider if your pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant. This medicine can cause BIRTH DEFECTS. DO NOT become pregnant while being treated with this medicine. You MUST use birth control methods while receiving this treatment or if your partner is being treated with this medicine.

Dosage Information

This medicine is given in a hospital setting. It is intravenously infused over 2 hours by your health care provider or trained professionals. You will typically receive this infusion every 6 hours for 16 doses or for 4 days. You may receive other chemotherapy agents or radiation therapy in addition to this medicine therapy.
Missed Dosage:
DO NOT miss a dose. Talk to health care provider if you can not make your appointment.
Storage:
There is no storage required. This medicine is usually given at the hospital or clinic setting. You will NOT be taking this medicine home.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
