Drug Information

Celebrex is used for the treatment of the symptoms of arthritis, such as joint pain, inflammation, swelling and stiffness. This medicine is not a cure for arthritis and provides relief only as long as one continues to take the medication.
Mechanism:
This medicine inhibits the COX ll enzyme. An enzyme which plays a role in arthritis pain and inflammation.

Side Effects

cough, sore throat
Precautions:
Precautions include alcohol abuse and liver disease or any past history of liver involvement, since liver disease may be aggravated by this medicine.
Preganant:
Talk to your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant. This medicine should not be used if you are pregnant. This is unknown whether this medicine is excreted in human breast milk. Avoid breast-feeding while taking this medicine.

Dosage Information

Follow the directions given to you by your doctor. This medicine can be taken with or without food. Celebrex is generally taken once to twice daily. Continue to take this medicine even if you are feeling better.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
