This medicine destroys bacteria that cause gingivitis. Gingivitis is caused by bacteria that grow in the plaque that form on your teeth.

Side EffectsRarely, someone may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. See a doctor immediately if you have any of the following side effects: rash, hives, itching, difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of the face
Precautions:
This medicine may change your taste. This may last of to 4 hours after using the medicine. Once you complete your treatment, your taste should return to normal.
Preganant:
Before taking this medicine, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant, talk to your health care provider.

Dosage InformationChlorhexidine is generally use twice a day after brushing and flossing your teeth. Follow these steps: First, rinse your mouth thoroughly after brushing to get rid of any toothpaste left in your mouth. The cap on the bottle is used to measure the correct amount of rinse. Next, fill the cap to the "fill line" which is 15mL (1/2 ounce). Swish the medicine around in your mouth for 30 seconds, then spit out. Do not swallow. Do not dilute with water. Finally, do not eat or drink for several hours after rinsing with chlorhexidine.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Follow package directions for proper storage. Keep away from heat, moisture or light.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
