Drug InformationThis medicine is used for patients who have tonsillitis, infection in the nose, sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, or some skin infections. It can also be used to prevent infections such as MAC, and is sometimes used with other medications to treat peptic ulcers.
Mechanism:
This antibiotic stops the growth of bacteria by interfering with the production of proteins that the bacteria need to survive.

Side EffectsThis medicine is generally well-tolerated.
Precautions:
You should use this medicine with caution if you have kidney or liver disease, or a known allergy to erythromycin, clarithromycin or azithromycin.
Preganant:
This medicine is generally not considered safe during pregnancy. For nursing mothers, it is unknown if clarithromycin is excreted into breast milk. It is advised not to breast feed while taking this medicine.

Dosage InformationIt is recommended that this medicine be taken with food at regular intervals and until it is all gone.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.
