Drug InformationMaintaining a healthy heart, diabetes, congestive heart failure, for prevention of muscle disease caused by "statins", chronic fatigue syndrome, male infertility, high blood pressure, muscular dystrophy, and for breast cancer.
Mechanism:
CoQ-10 is known to be antioxidant, membrane stabilizer, and is a cofactor in many metabolic pathways. The body normally produces CoQ-10, but additional amounts may be taken in from various foods, such as meats, seafood, and soy bean oil. The greatest benefit from CoQ-10 supplementation is seen in those individuals with the largest deficiency of this agent.

Side EffectsCoQ-10 is generally well-tolerated. Clinical Studies have reported no significant adverse effects.
Precautions:
If you are taking warfarin (Coumadin), talk to your doctor before taking CoQ-10 supplements.
Preganant:
There is not enough reliable information on the safety of taking CoQ-10 while pregnant or nursing.
