Drug InformationOrally, this supplement is to treat atherosclerosis, obesity, cancer, for bodybuilding, and for limiting food allergy reactions.
Mechanism:
It is very similar to the essential fatty acid linoleic acid. CLA helps the body regulate fat and protein metabolism. Dairy products and beef are the main dietary sources, but they also are high in calories and saturated fat. It is believed that CLA can help reduce body fat deposits, and that it may enhance immune function, inhibiting metabolic pathways in tumor cells.

Side EffectsThe only recorded adverse effects are gastrointestinal disturbance, and occasionally fatigue.
Precautions:
Some studies suggest that linoleic acid may increase storage of Vitamin A in liver and breast tissue.
