Drug InformationElestat is an eye drop that is used to prevent itching that happens with eye allergies (allergic conjunctivitis).
Mechanism:
Elestat blocks histamine release from mast cells. Histamine when released, causes itchy, watery eyes.

Side EffectsThe most common side effects with this medicine occur in 10% or less of patients and include:
Precautions:
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to Elestat, Epinastine or other eye drops.
Preganant:
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor. Nursing mothers should consult their doctors or pediatricians before breast-feeding while taking this medicine.

Dosage InformationTake this medicine exactly as directed. Instructions are listed on your prescription label.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
