Drug InformationOrally, it is used for treatment of premenstrual syndrome PMS), endometriosis, and menopause. It may also be used for psoriasis, acne, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, hypercholesterolemia, heart disease, and diabetic neuropathy.

Side EffectsEvening Primrose Oil when taken orally may cause: indigestion, nausea, headache
Precautions:
Should be used with caution when taking anticoagulant drugs or herbs. May also affect cholesterol levels.
Preganant:
Evening primrose oil is considered possibly unsafe during pregnancy and should be avoided. It is considered likely safe while nursing.

Dosage InformationFor PMS, daily doses are 2 to 4 grams daily. For rheumatoid arthritis doses may range from 540 mg to 2.8 grams daily. Doses may be as high as 6 to 8 grams for atopic eczema.
