Drug InformationEzetimibe is used together with a low cholesterol diet which helps to lower the amount of cholesterol in your blood. Lower cholesterol helps to prevent heart attacks and strokes. Your doctor may prescribe ezetimibe with other cholesterol-lowering drugs (ie: statins).
Mechanism:
Ezetimibe works by reducing the amount of cholesterol that your body absorbs from your diet.

Side EffectsPossible side effects with this medicine include: dizziness, headache, diarrhea, swelling of the throat, and runny nose

Follow your diet plan to achieve best results.
Preganant:
If you plan to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about using ezetimibe during your pregnancy to discuss risks and benefits. Ezetimibe should not be used during pregnancy if you are taking a "statin" drug with ezetimibe. It is not known whether ezetimibe is excreted in human breast milk, so talk to your doctor or pediatrician if you are taking this drug and want to breast-feed.

Dosage InformationFollow all instuctions given to you by your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine is taken orally once a day with or without food. Take this medicine about the same time everyday.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
