Drug InformationThis medicine is used to prevent or decrease the symptoms of chronic lung diseases such as emphysema, bronchitis, or COPD. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine for other conditions as well.
Mechanism:
This medicine works by opening up the airways in two ways. It causes the muscles around the airways to relax and also reduces inflammation in the airways. This medicine does not work as a "rescue" medicine.

Side EffectsFluticasone and salmeterol may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: cough, diarrhea, headache, hoarseness, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, sinus pain, upset stomach, stomach pain, muscle and bone pain, vomiting
Precautions:
tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to fluticasone (Flonase, Flovent), salmeterol (Serevent), or any other medications.
Preganant:
If you plan on becoming pregnant, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy. One of these medicines (Salmeterol) is excreted in breast milk; it is unknown whether the other medicine (fluticasone) is excreted in breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding with this medicine.

Dosage InformationFollow all directions given to you by your doctor. Read the patient leaflet that is given with this medicine carefully. Ask you healthcare provider if you have any questions about proper use of this medicine. Always
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
