Drug InformationThis medicine is used to treat diabetes. It is used along with diet and exercise to control high blood sugar.
Mechanism:
This medicine works by restoring your body's response to insulin and by stimulating your body's insulin. Uncontrolled high blood sugar can cause heart disease, blindness, kidney disease and circulation problems. Controlling your blood sugar can prevent these problems.

Side EffectsAll medicines have the potential for side effects. If you are experience side effects that bother you or become severe, see your doctor as soon as possible.
Precautions:
Let your doctor know if you are allergic to glyburide or metformin (Glucovance) before taking this medicine.
Preganant:
If you are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about using glyburide and metformin during your pregnancy. This medicine should NOT be taken for at least 2 weeks prior to delivery. Your doctor can give you more information on this. Breast-feeding mother should consult with their doctor or pediatrician before taking this medicine. It is unknown whether on not this drug is excreted in the breast milk.

Dosage InformationFollow the directions provided to you by your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine should be taken EVERY day. Do not skip doses. It is recommended that you take this medicine with a meal.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdoses of this type of medicine can cause low blood sugar. If patient is unconscience call emergency services immediately.
