Drug InformationThis medicine is a diuretic (water pill) and is used to eliminate excess water from the body by increasing urination. It is used to treat high blood pressure and edema (swelling) of the hands and feet.
Mechanism:
This medicine works in your kidneys by eliminating sodium, potassium and water. Blood pressure is lowered by reducing water volume.

This medicine can increase your skins sensitivity to sunlight.
Preganant:
If you are or plan to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about the risks of using this medicine during your pregnancy. This medicine appears in the breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding to discuss any risks to your baby.

Dosage InformationThis medicine is taken orally and can be taken with or without food. It is advised that this medicine be taken early in the day.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.
