Mechanism:
The effectiveness of this agent has not been proven. It is believed that it is involved in cellular proliferation, that it forms chelates with metals in the gut, and that it functions as an antioxidant.

Precautions:
IP-6 may cause a decrease in the absorption of the minerals zinc, calcium, and iron. Your doctor can tell you whether a supplement may be needed.
Preganant:
It is considered likely safe in amounts contained in foods. There is insufficient information regarding the safety when higher doses are used.

Dosage InformationThe usual dosing for cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention is 500 mg to as much as 2 grams daily. In treating existing cancer, doses of 5 to 8 grams daily have been tried.
