Drug InformationThis medicine is an anticonvulsant used with other medicines to control certain types of seizures. This medicine is only available with a doctor's prescription.
Mechanism:
This medicine calms the impulses along the nerves in the brain and central nervous system which reduces seizures. (Raises the threshold).

Side EffectsSide effects that this medicine may cause include: drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, unsteadiness, nausea, or vomiting. If these side effects are bothersome, check with your health care provider.
Precautions:
Do NOT stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor.
Preganant:
This use of this medicine in pregnant women has not been studied. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant and taking this medicine. This medicine passes through the mothers breast milk. It is not know whether this medicine causes any harm to the nursing baby. Talk to your doctor or healthcare provider if you plan to nurse.

Dosage InformationFollow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Swallow whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine is recommended.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Symptoms of overdose include; clumseness, coma, continuous back and forth movements, eye movements, severe dizziness and/or drowsiness, dry mouth, severe headache, fast heart rate, slurred speech.
