Drug Information

This medicine is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat ulcers, reflux disease (GERD), or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Your doctor may also prescribe this medicine to treat other conditions as well.
Mechanism:
This medicine inhibits an enzyme system in the stomach lining and stops production of stomach acid, allowing for healing.

Side Effects

headache, dizziness
Precautions:
Because of possible dizziness, caution should be exercised when driving or performing other potentially dangerous activities.
Preganant:
If your are, or plan on becoming pregnant, talk to your doctor about the risks versus the benefits of using this medication during your pregnancy. For nursing mothers, it is unknown whether or not this medicine is excreted in breast milk. It is advised to avoid this drug, or refrain from nursing while taking this medicine.

Dosage Information

Follow the directions given to you by your doctor or pharmacist. It is best to take this medicine before eating. Swallow the capsule whole with water and do not crush or chew before swallowing. Take this medicine in the morning at the same time every day, unless your doctor as told you otherwise.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.
