Drug Information

This medicine is given by injection to cause loss of feeling before and during surgery, during labor and delivery and dental procedures.
Mechanism:
This medicine works by blocking pain sensation through the nerves.

Side Effects

Check with your doctor or dentist immediately if you experience any of the following side effects: difficulty breathing, chest pain, rapid heart beat, unusual bleeding, nausea or vomiting
Precautions:
Tell your doctor, nurse or dentist if you have ever had an unusual reaction to a local anesthetic.
Preganant:
Local Anesthetics have NOT been reported to cause birth defects in humans. Before receiving a local anesthetic for delivery of your baby, talk to your doctor about the benefits of using the medicine and the risks. For breast-feeding mothers, it is not know whether local anesthetics pass into the breast milk. Before breast-feeding, talk to your doctor or pediatrician for more information.

Dosage Information

These medicines are given only by or under the immediate supervision of a medical doctor or dentist, or by a specially trained nurse, in the doctor's office or in a hospital. Your doctor will determine how much is right for you based on your age and other factors.
