Drug Information

This medicine is used for patients who have mild to moderate infections of the nose, throat, and ears.
Mechanism:
The group of penicillin antibiotics, work by blocking bacterial cell wall formation, resulting in bacteria that cannot survive or reproduce.
More Info:
Antibiotics may decrease the amount of "good" bacteria in your intestines needed for normal digestion. A supplement called Probiotic may be recommended. Talk to your pharmacist.

Side Effects

This medicine is generally well-tolerated and side effects are usually mild and include: mild diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
Precautions:
If you have ever experienced an allergic reaction to penicillin or cephalosporins, talk to your doctor before taking this medication.
Preganant:
This medicine is generally regarded as safe during pregnancy and nursing. However, talk to your doctor or pediatrician about the possible mild risks to your infant. This medicine may cause your infant to develop diarrhea, yeast infections, or an allergic reaction.

Dosage Information

It is best if you take this medicine on an empty stomach, one hour before meals or two hours after meals. Take the medicine until it is all gone unless your doctor has told you otherwise.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.
