Drug InformationThis medicine helps to improve the symptoms of a condition called narcolepsy (a sleeping disorder that makes you suddenly go into a deep sleep. It has also been know to be used to treat fatigue associated with sleep apnea or multiple sclerosis but this is not yet approved by the FDA for these uses.
Mechanism:
This medicine help promote alertness during the daylight hours for people who have narcolepsy. Narcolepsy makes people fall into a sudden deep sleep, that can happen at any place or at any time.

Side EffectsWhile taking this medicine you may experience the following common side effects: mild diarrhea, headache, nausea, stomach upset, nervousness
Precautions:
Talk to health care provider about these drug interactions before using this medicine.Let your health care provider know if you are experiencing any of the following: Frequently use alcohol, have a history of drug or alcohol abuse or rehabilitation, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, mental illness, use of some birth control, an allergic reaction to this medicine or foods or dyes or preservatives
Preganant:
Talk to your doctor about using this medicine during pregnancy or nursing to discuss any possible risks to you or your baby. For nursing mothers, this medicine is excreted in breast milk. DO NOT breast feed while taking this medicine.

Dosage InformationTake this medicine by mouth. Take your dose in the morning hours if want to get the best effects during the day. You should not take this medicine in the afternoon or evening, it may interfer with your ability to sleep at night. Follow your health care provider instructions on taking this medicine. Drink water when taking this medicine.DO NOT take your medicine more than directed by your health care provider.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Store at room temperature. Keep container tightly sealed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
