Drug InformationThis medicine is used for patients who have inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and mild to moderate pain from an injury. It can also be used for fever, gout, or acute migraine headaches.
Mechanism:
This medicine blocks the effects of prostaglandins, a chemical involved in pain and inflammation.

Side EffectsSome common side effects reported with this medicine include: nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, dizziness
Precautions:
This medicine can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not perform hazardous activities until you know how this medicine affects you.
Preganant:
For women, this medicine should not be used during the third trimester of pregnancy. If you suspect that you may be pregnant, talk to you doctor before using this medication. For nursing mothers, ibuprofen is considered safe to use while breast-feeding.

Dosage InformationFood does not affect the absorption of this medicine, so this medicine can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Dosing is usually once daily, although some patients are prescribed twice daily dosing.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center. Symptoms of overdose include: stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, feeling tired, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), confusion, headache and blurred vision.
