Drug InformationPrevention of itching of the eye caused by allergies. This medicine should NOT be used to treat contact lens-related problems. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine for other conditions as well.
Mechanism:
This medicine blocks histamine. Histamine causes the eyes to become red and itchy.

Side EffectsThe side effects with this medicine are generally mild. The most common side effects are: headache, stuffy nose, cold or flu symptoms, temporary burning or stinging of the eye when drops are first put in.
Precautions:
While taking this medicine: DO NOT wear contact lenses if your eyes are red, if you wear soft contact lenses and your eyes are not red, remove the lenses before using this medicine, wait a least 10 minutes before putting in your lenses, do not allow the tip of the dropper to touch the eyelids or surrounding areasit may contaminate this medicine
Preganant:
Talk to your health care provider if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant.

Dosage InformationUse these drops exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. These instructions will be on your prescription label. For children older than 3 and adults, the usual dose is 1-2 drops in the affected eye 4 times daily as needed.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
