Drug InformationPropranolol is used to lower blood pressure, for chest pains, and used in patients after a heart attack. Propranolol can also be used to prevent migraine headaches. Your doctor may use this medicine to treat other conditions as well.
Mechanism:
This medicine blocks the action of a chemical in your body that can causes narrowing of blood vessels and an increased pumping action of the heart.

Side EffectsA few of the most common side effects with this medicine include: mild drowsiness, lightheadedness, dizziness, weakness
Precautions:
Do NOT abruptly stop taking this medication without consulting with a doctor.
Preganant:
If you think that you may be pregnant, talk to you doctor to discuss the risks and benefits to you and your baby. For nursing mothers, this medication is found in breast milk. Before breast feeding, talk to your doctor.

Dosage InformationTake this medicine as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Propranolol is taken orally and generally taken once to twice a day. This medicine is taken orally and may be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Take the medicine regularly. Do not break or crush sustained-release tablets or capsules.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container. Keep away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center. Symptoms of overdose include: low blood pressure and slow pulse rate.
