Drug Information

This medicine is used to treat ulcers, heartburn, reflux disease (GERD), or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This medicine may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Mechanism:
This medicine inhibits an enzyme system in the stomach lining and stops production of stomach acid, allowing for healing and relief of heartburn.

Side Effects

This medicine is generally well-tolerated.
Precautions:
Because of possible dizziness, Do NOT drive a car or perform other potentially dangerous activities until you know how you react to this medicine.
Preganant:
The safety and efficacy of Aciphex for use by pregnant women has not been established. If you are, or plan on becoming pregnant, talk with your doctor about the use of this medicine during pregnancy.

Dosage Information

Follow the directions given to you by your doctor. It is best to take this medicine before eating. Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not crush or chew before swallowing. Take this medicine at the same time each day, unless your doctor as told you otherwise.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.
