Drug InformationSame has been used for a number of different conditions such as: osteoarthritis, depression, fibromyalgia, male infertility, liver disorders, and migraine headaches. SAMe may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Mechanism:
SAMe is a naturally occurring molecule that can be found in most all tissues and fluids in the body. It plays a role in many reactions including the formation, activation and metabolism of hormones, neurotransmitters, nucleic acids, proteins, phosphlipids and some drugs.

Side EffectsThis medicine is generally well-tolerated with few side effects.
Precautions:
Talk to your doctor before taking this product if have bipolar illness.
Preganant:
Avoid using SAMe if you are pregnant or nursing until you have talked to your doctor about the benefits and risks to you and your baby. One study of pregnant women found SAMe to be safe.

Dosage InformationHealthy individuals do not need to supplement their diets with SAMe. Research has used the following doses: depression, 1600 mg per day; osteoarthritis, 800 to 1200 mg per day; fibromyalgia, 800 mg per day; liver disorders, 1200 mg per day; and migraine headaches, 800 mg per day.
