Drug InformationThis medicine is an anticoagulant used to prevent blood clots from moving or forming. Your doctor may use this medicine to treat other conditions as well
Mechanism:
This medicine interferes with clotting factors by blocking the action of vitamin K. This will prevent clots from forming.

Side EffectsCheck with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of the following: nosebleeds, excessive bleeding from cuts, bleeding from your gums, excessive bruising, discoloration of urine or stools, black tarry stools.
Precautions:
Before you have any medical or dental treatments, surgery or emergency care, let the health care providers know that you are taking this medicine.
Preganant:
For women, do not use warfarin in you are pregnant. If you suspect that you could be pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. This medicine does appear in breast milk, but in inactive forms. Breast feeding appears to be safe. Your doctor will want to check your baby for warfarin effects.

Dosage InformationFollow the directions given to you by your doctor. It is important to take this medicine at the same time every day. Check your dose to make sure that you are taking the correct dose.
Missed Dosage:
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage:
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
Overdose:
Seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
